Crop a picture or GIF to a Discord profile picture, banner, server icon or server banner, under the limit.
Make
512 × 512, shown in a circle. An animated one needs Nitro to use.
Shape
Crop fills Discord's shape, cutting off what's over the edges.
Keep
Which part of the picture stays when it's cropped.
You
Profile picture and banner
Cropped to Discord's own shapes, so nothing important is cut off when you upload them. Animated ones need Nitro.
Server icon and banner
The icon is shown in a circle in the server list; the banner sits at the top of the channel list. Banners need server boosts.
Kept under the limit
A GIF over 8 MB is made again with fewer colours, then fewer frames, then smaller, until it fits. It tells you what it changed.
